Southwest Airlines on Wednesday introduced the latest in its set of specialty?airplanes painted in colors and designs to honor a state. In this case, it?s Colorado, with the introduction of Colorado One.
Denver in six years has become the fifth busiest airport in Southwest?s system, and the four busier airports ? Chicago Midway, Las Vegas, Baltimore and Phoenix ? already have airplanes painted in livery honoring their states.
Who can name all the special state airplanes? I probably can?t. There?s Florida One, Maryland One, Illinois One, Nevada One, Arizona One, Lone Star One (Texas, of course) and New Mexico One.
CORRECTION: I originally said Colorado One was a new 737-800. It is in fact an already-in-service 737-700.
