LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Warner Bros. Television has just locked in the talented showrunner for its ABC comedy, "Suburgatory."
Emily Kapnek has inked a two-year overall deal with the studio, TheWrap confirms. Under the pact, she will continue on in her post as "Suburgatory's" showrunner. Additionally, she'll develop new projects for the studio.
Aside from "Suburgatory," Kapnek's producing credits include NBC's "Parks and Recreation," HBO's "Hung," and The CW's "Aliens in America."
She has also been nominated for three Emmys for writing on the animated Nickelodeon show, "As Told by Ginger," which debuted in 2003 and aired for four seasons.
"Suburgatory" premiered in 2011 and it's currently airing its second season. It stars Jeremy Sisto, Jane Levy, Cheryl Hines, Alan Tudyk, Ana Gasteyer and Chris Parnell. ABC has yet to announce a third season renewal.
Airing on Wednesdays, last week's episode scored a 1.8 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demo and a 5 share with 5.6 million total viewers.
THR first reported the deal.
